With great sadness the family announce the passing of our aunt, Evelyn 'Evie' Brenton on Nov. 6, 2013 at the MacGillivray Guest Home in Sydney, N.S.
Born in Middle Stewiacke on April 10, 1922, she was the daughter of the late Andrew and Susan (Glawson) Brenton.
Evie worked for Maritime Tel & Tel in Halifax, where she lived until her retirement in 1981.
She then moved to South Side Big Baddeck and resided with her dear friend, Margaret Hanam. She enjoyed travelling, golfing and playing cards. She made many friends while living in the Baddeck area, especially close in the later years were Pam Mackay and Marilyn MacLeod.
Evie is survived by nephews, Andrew (Beverley) Brenton, Middle Stewiake, Donald (Vonnie) Brenton, Hilden, N.S.; niece, Sheila (Louie) Desjardins, Kapuskasing, Ont.; her dear friend, Margaret Hanam, plus many grand nieces and nephews.
Beside her parents, she was predeceased by her brother, Clark; her sister, Janet; her niece, Janet and her grand-nephew, Jeffrey.
We would like to thank the staff of the MacGillivray Guest Home for the kindness and care shown to Evie during her year there.
The funeral service will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 16, 2013, at St. Michael's Church, Baddeck. Interment to follow in St. Andrews Cemetery, Baddeck Forks.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the MacGillivray Guest Home, Sydney or to the Canadian Cancer Society.
