Clifford Ernest Mills

Clifford Mills 1926-2013
MILLS, Clifford Ernest – Beloved patriarch of the Mills family, died peacefully on November 19, 2013, surrounded by his loving family. Born to the late Joseph and Jessie (Truax) Mills on October 24, 1926 in Richmond, Quebec, he rejoins his predeceased wife Ella who passed on June 24, 2012. He leaves behind his greatest legacy, a close and loving family including 7 children; Don (Liz) Mills, Debbie (Ed Kline) Mills, Sharon (Phil) Condran, David (Margo) Mills, Janet (Bob Webber), Jim (Leilany) Mills and Jeff (Pam) Mills; 13 grandchildren Samantha Condran, Michael (Jennifer LaPlante) and Lindsay (Sean Lewis) Mills; Kelsie Phillips, Candice (Kevin Saccary) and Cora Webber; Sara Mills; Matthew, Alexander (Ally Everett), Amanda and Mallory Mills; and Curtis and Trent Mills; and 6 great-grandchildran Shayne Condran, Liam and Lachlan Mills, Charlie and Harrison Lewis, and Ella Saccary. He leaves behind brothers Roger and Johnny, sister Ellen, and numerous nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by brother Joseph and sister Vera.
He joined the Navy at age 17 and it was in Halifax where he met the love of his life Ella, to whom he was married 62 years. After living in Sherbrooke, Que for many years, they moved to Truro in 1968 where they lived for many happy years with their family and a circle of good friends. Cliff will long be remembered for the one thing that he most cherished; a legacy of ensuring that his large family remain close and loving above all else. He had a very successful career in sales and was also an entrepreneur, including introducing in the late 1970’s a then unknown aerosol lubricant to the Maritimes that became very successful, WD-40. He was an avid volunteer at his church and he was also a very good athlete, excelling in track & field and hockey. His loved ones will always remember the large family gatherings in Truro, with Ella as chef, and Cliff as the consummate host and BBQ king. He was known to have the cleanest pool in Truro ☺. He will be greatly missed.
At his request there will be no visitation; a celebration of his life will take place at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Dartmouth on Saturday Nov. 23 at 10:00 AM, with a reception to follow at Office Interiors on 656 Windmill Rd, Dartmouth. Special appreciation to the many homecare workers who took such great care of Cliff; with special thanks to caregiver Louise Dobbin and Dr. Brian Stacey. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Peter’s or to a charity of your choice.Online condolences www.dartmouthfuneralhome.ca
