1924-2013
Audrey Myrtle Smith, of Riverview, passed away at her residence, Pro Tem Nursing Home, Moncton, on Sunday, December 1, 2013 at the age of 89 years.
Born in Dorchester, N.B., she was the daughter of the late Ernest and Tecla (Ward) Tower.
Audrey was retired from Spencer's Nursing Home after 10 years as a Nursing Aide. Previously she worked at T. Eaton Co. in the Accounting Dept. for many years. Audrey was an avid sports fan who especially enjoyed the Toronto Blue Jays. She also enjoyed travelling, playing Bridge and Auction.
She will be sadly missed by her daughter, Wanda (Gordon) Whitlock, of New Haven, P.E.I.; her sons, Doug (Joanne) Smith of Riverview and Rendell Smith of Moncton; sister, Muriel Tower, formerly of Bridgedale, Gertrude (Weldon) Pacholzuk of Penticton, B.C., Rhoda Matthews of Campbello Island and Iris (Harold) Watson of Dundas, ON; brother, Ernest W. Tower of Moncton; sister-in-law, Ruby Tower of Moncton; four grandchildren, Audra (James) Carrier of Cornwall, P.E.I., Jonathan (Jill) Whitlock of Dartmouth, N.S., Kevin (Rhonda) Smith of Moncton and Kris (Kate Gilmore) Smith of Dartmouth, N.S.; step-grandchildren, Vicki (Kent Barrett) Whitlock, Jamie (Lesley) Whitlock and Julie Whitlock; 10 great-grandchildren; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents she was predeceased by her husband, Wallace W. Smith, in 1992; brother, Robert "Bob" Tower; son-in-law, Robert "Bob" White; brothers-in-law, Leonard Tower and Loren "Bud" Matthews; sister-in-law, Paulette Tower.
Visitation will be held at Riverview Funeral Chapel on Wednesday, December 4, 2013 from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. The funeral service will be held at Riverview Funeral Home Memorial Chapel on Wednesday, December 4, 2013 at 1:30 p.m. followed by a reception. Interment will be in Fair Haven Memorial Gardens.
Donations in Audrey's memory to the CNIB, the Alzheimer's Society, the Canadian Cancer Society or to the memorial of the donor's choice would be appreciated by the family.
