Julia Hemmings

The family of Julia Frances Hemmings is sad to announce her passing on December 16, 2013 in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow.
She has gone to be with her husband, Victor George Hemmings and her eldest son, Ralph Martin Hemmings.
She was also predeceased by parents, Ralph and Gladys Smith; sisters: Janet Reading, Molly Batten, Marg MacDougall; brother, Donnie Smith; and step-sister, Audrey Beaver.
Continuing to celebrate her life are daughter, Carolyn Hemmings; sons, Robert Hemmings (Carrie), Kenneth Hemmings (Lori); daughter-in-law, Susan Hemmings; grandchildren: Martin Hemmings (Jamie), Mathew Hemmings (Trudy), Amanda Hemmings, Brock Hemmings (Amanda), Rogan Hemmings; great-grandchildren: Bailey, Ava, Liam, Gideon, Ethan and Evan.
Julia was a lifetime member of the Ladies Auxiliary of Branch 16 Royal Canadian Legion where she was also past president. She was an active community member, including memberships with TOPS and The New Horizons Seniors' Club. Julie spent her remaining years at the Shiretown Nursing Home in Pictou, where she enjoyed the many activities offered. The staff and residents accepted Julie as one of their own extended family. She enjoyed sharing stories, pictures and updates of all her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Julie was extremely proud of her home on Church Street, where she had an extensive flower garden and would always welcome others with her delicious baking and hospitality. Words cannot describe how deeply she will be missed.
Visitation will be held 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday in McLaren Funeral Home, Pictou. Funeral will be 11 a.m. Thursday from St. James Anglican Church, Pictou, with Archdeacon Peter Armstrong officiating. Burial will be in Central Caribou Cemetery.
Donations in her memory may be made to the St. James Anglican Church, Pictou, the Heart and Stroke Foundation, or a charity of one's choice.
