McKinley, Eva Irene, age 87 of Bramber, passed away peacefully at the Hants Community Hospital, Windsor, in the Palliative Care Unit on December 15, 2013. Born in Bramber, July 23, 1926, she was the daughter of the late James Percy and Ethel Maude (Lake) Macumber. She worked hard all her life. She picked apples for Cliff Strong and worked many years at the Avonview Rest Home until 1986. She loved her family and made them her priority. She was a terrific cook and loved to have people pop in and share with her. She enjoyed working in her flower garden, as well as picking berries for cooking or preserving. Eva was also a big fan of Bluegrass and Country Music. The Macumbers were all full of music. She is survived by her long time friend Wayne MacAskill, sons Ralph (Carol), Bramber; Ronald (Anne), Cheverie; Robert (Kathy), Bramber; 10 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren, brothers Clayton, Edmonton; Charlie, Pembroke; sisters Marjorie Lynch, Dartmouth; Doreen Tucker, Burlington. She was predeceased by her husband Arthur, infant daughter Beatrice Maude McKinley, grandson Jeffrey McKinley,brothers Henry, Leland, Samuel, Everett, Stafford, Parnell, Maynard, sisters Izetta McNamara and Elsie Armstrong. Cremation has taken place with visitation Thursday, December 19th from 7 to 9 pm in the J. Wilson Allen Funeral Home, Hwy 215 Summerville. A memorial service will be held Friday, December 20th at 2 pm in the Kempt United Baptist Church, Summerville, Rev. Garnet Parker officiating, reception to follow in the church basement. There will be a private family burial at a later date. Family flowers only. Donations can be made to the Palliative Care Unit at the Hants Community Hospital, Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia, or charity of choice.
