Barbara Ann Willoughby (Miller)

Barbara Ann Willoughby (Miller)

Of Bedford, N.S. - May 23, 1941 - December 26, 2013.
We, the family of Barbara Ann Willoughby announce with heavy hearts the passing of our mother, grandmother, daughter and sister peacefully at home with her family by her side after a courageous battle with cancer.
Born in Halifax, Barb was the daughter of the late Gerald Miller and Rita Miller (Delaney) of Halifax, N.S. Barb is survived and will be sadly missed by her children: Christine Taylor (Greg), Charlottetown, P.E.I.; Lynn Ferguson (Robert), Maitland, NS; and Mark Willoughby (Sue), Rustico, P.E.I. She was the proud grandmother to Matthew, Jeremy and Ryan Taylor; Cecil Joseph (CJ) and Shyla Gallant.
Barb is also survived by her mother, Rita Miller (Delaney); 9 brothers and sisters: Robert (Deborah) Miller, Beverley (Will) White, Kenneth (Winnie) Miller, Gerald Jr. Miller, Lloyd (Deborah) Miller, Deborah (Doug) Briand, Thomas (Dena) Miller, Patricia (Victor) Tanner, Dawn (Keith) Simmons; and many nieces and nephews.
Barb was predeceased by her father, Gerald Miller, and sister, Gail, in infancy.
Barb was a valued employee of Lawtons Drug Store for 36 years in various capacities, front store manager and most recently merchandiser, up until her official retirement in 2012. She made many lifelong friends during these years that she cherished to the end. She enjoyed spending her time with her many friends, attending dog shows with her girl "Tilly". Mom also loved to travel, whether it be as close as P.E.I., yearly trips to Florida with Jack and Carol, or a road trip to wherever, she loved them all the same. She was lucky enough to have traveled across Canada, parts of Europe, Caribbean and the US.
A very special thank you to Mom's best friends for the past 30 years, Carol and Jack Carroll, for their unwavering love and support. They did not hesitate to take the role as caregivers, making sure Mom was able to stay at home and comfortable during her illness. We can never thank them enough for everything they have done.
Also, thank you to all of Mom's friends, for always being there for her especially during her illness.
Thank you to Dr. Jacqueline Cloney, Dr. Jeyakumar, medical oncology, oncology nurse, Darlene, palliative care nurse Susan Parrot, RJF continuing care, VON and VON Debbie Townsend. Your care and compassion for Mom was very much appreciated.
Keeping with Mom's wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no service. Donations can be made in Barb's name to Dalhousie Medical Research or Canadian Cancer Society.
Online condolences may be made by visiting www.serenityfuneralhome.ca or can be mailed to L. Ferguson, PO Box 1 Maitland, NS, B0N 1T0.
