Kenneth Lyons Parker, age 93, passed away peacefully on December 29 at the Valley Regional Hospital after a brief illness. Ken was a well known resident of Woodville where he lived all of his life. He was a retired farmer of more than 50 years, and an active member of many associations including NS Milk Producers Assoc., Farmers Dairy, United Woodville Fruit Company, ACA Co-op, Scotian Gold Co-op, Western Kings Memorial Hospital, and Lakeville Cemetery. He was a member of the Woodville Baptist Church and an adherent to the Trinity United Church. He often served as treasurer for many organizations including Woodville Baptist Church, the Apple Valley Seniors Club, and Woodville Community Club. Ken was a dedicated member of the Grand Lodge of Nova Scotia serving as Past Master of the Valley Lodge # 90 and a 55 year jewel holder. Ken had many hobbies, including the daily puzzles, curling, gardening, bridge, and the Blue Jays. Ken was recently recognized by the Berwick Sports Hall of Fame for showing what sport is all about by curling until age 92. Born in Woodville he was the son of Ralph and May (Bentley). He was predeceased by his wife of 42 years Isabelle (Newcombe), special friend and companion Mildred Illsley, brothers Robert, Charles and William and sisters Mildred, Helen (Giles) and Vera, and several siblings in infancy. He is survived by his sister Frances (John) Franey, Aylesford; son David, Woodville, daughters Eleanor (Donald) Shay , Joyce (Donald) Carter , and Carol Smith (Rick Horne) all of Dartmouth, nine grandchildren; Neil (Rachel) Parker, Colin Parker, Jeff Parker, Jennifer (Brian) Urquhart, Byron (Erin) Shay, Gillian Shay, Michael Vaughan, Derek (Kelsie) Smith, Alex Smith and four great grandchildren. Also considered family, Mary (Illsley) and Mac Young and their families. Ken was a dedicated spouse and cared lovingly for his wife Isabelle and companion Mildred in their final days. A Masonic service was held on Thursday January 2, 2014 at 6:30pm at Serenity Lindsay Funeral Home, Berwick Chapel, followed by a visitation from 7-9pm from where the funeral service took place on Friday January 3, 2014 at 2pm, with Rev.
