We regret to announce the passing of Sylvia (Roberts) Carrigan in Brampton, Ont. on Dec. 18, 2013, surrounded by her dear family, after a long battle with Alzheimer's.
Born in Lingan to parents, Lionel and Hazen (Young) Roberts.
Survived by her loving husband of 51 years, Danny; children, Maureen (Hugh), Ottawa, Trish (Ian), Brampton; adored and best Nana to grandchildren, Katie, Jessica, Sarah and Franco. Also survived by brother, Mike (Judy); niece, Kathleen and nephew, Lionel. Dear friend to Peggy Whyte.
After the early death of her father, she was reared by her mother and aunt, Mary 'Mamie' R. Roberts.
Sylvia graduated from Mt. Carmel and Central high schools and N.S. Normal College. She began her teaching career at Mt. Carmel School until her marriage brought her to Ontario where she continued to teach until her retirement with the Catholic School Board in 1996.
Sylvia was a passionate and dedicated teacher. She was respected and admired by all who crossed her path.
Ever true to her Catholic faith, many families expressed their appreciation for her dedication in preparing their children for the sacraments.
The funeral mass was held on Dec. 21, 2013, at St. Mary's R.C. Church in Brampton, Ont.
