CATHERINE A. 'KAY' SMITH - It is with great sadness we must announce the passing of Catherine A. "Kay" Smith, age 91, of Amherst. Kay passed away at her home on Thursday December 26, 2013.
Born in Clyde River, N.S., she was a daughter of the late Foster and Maude (MacKay) Nicoll.
She will be sadly missed by brother-in-law Layton C. (Shirley) Smith and several nieces and nephews.
Kay was predeceased by her husband Ronald; sisters Marion and Helen and brothers Francis and Gerald.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Furlong~Jones Funeral Home, 70 Church St., Amherst, N.S. (1-902-667-8777). In keeping with Kay's own wishes, cremation has taken place. A private graveside service will take place in the Amherst Cemetery at a later date.
Those wishing to make a donation in Kay's memory may do so to the IWK Children's Hospital, or the charity of your choice.
