(William) Gareth Drinnan, 62, passed away Dec. 29, 2013.
Gareth was born in Conwy, Wales, Aug. 4, 1951.
Gareth worked at the Department of Transportation for 33 years. He was president of The Nova Scotia Highway workers union CUPE Local 1867 for 18 years. During his tenure as president Gareth represented his union on numerous boards and committees; including the Nova Scotia public service long term disability plan trust, the government master committee on health and safety and the government diversity round table committee. Gareth's greatest joy in life was helping others. He will be greatly missed by all.
He is survived by his best friend, Cynthia and daughter, Thia; brothers, Phillip (Jackie), Malcolm (Evie), Roy; sister, Faith (Donald); and many nieces and nephews who he loved very much.
Predeceased by daughter Tracy Anne, mother Marjorie, and father Roy.
In keeping with Gareth's wishes, there will be no visitation or service. Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of MacAskill Funeral Home Baddeck. There will be a “Celebration of Life” at a later date
Donations may be made to Baddeck Valley 4-H Club or Baddeck Valley Community Hall.
