Alice Louise (Dares) Rogers

Alice Louise (Dares) Rogers, age 89 of River John, passed away on January 2, 2014 in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow. Born March 7, 1924 in Centerdale, Pictou County, she was the daughter of the late James E. and Annie E. (Hutt) Dares. Alice was a home maker and mother who looked after her family and the operation of her home. She was a very kind person who never had a bad thing to say of anyone, was a deeply religious person and read the Bible daily. She will be greatly missed by her loving son, Jimmie of River John; brother James (Muriel) Dares of Halifax; sisters-in-law, Masie Hanwight, Elsie Miller and Doris Rogers and their families; nieces, Delena Dares of Timberlea and Wendy (Mark) Dodsworth of Whittenburg; nephews, Donald Dares of Timberlea; John (Ruth) MacDonald of Plymouth, N.S.; John (Lori) Dares of Lower Sackville, N.S.; Jeffrey (Andi) Dares of Calgary, Alberta; Jeremy (Amanda) Dares of Bridgewater; As well as several grand nieces and grand nephews. Alice was predeceased by her husband, Bernie Rogers; brother, Norman Dares; sister, Florence MacDonald. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until time of funeral service at 2 p.m. Friday, January 10 in Coulter’s Funeral Home, 48 Riverside Dr., Tatamagouche (657-3288), The Rev. Gregory Dickson officiating. Interment will be held at a later date in Hamilton Cemetery in River John. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to Aberdeen Hospital Palliative Care would be appreciated.
