HASTINGS, INEZ B. (ANDERSON) - The passing of Inez Beatrice Hastings of Fredericton occurred on Sunday, January 5, 2014 at the Dr. Chalmers Regional Hospital. She was born at Royal Road, NB on May 27, 1928, the daughter of the late George and Stella Anderson. Besides her parents, Inez was predeceased by her first husband Ellis Brawn, her second husband, Malcolm (Ted) Hastings, and special friend Gordon Wallace; sisters Thelma Dorcas, Gladys Dykeman and Zella Anderson; brothers Keith and Elmer Anderson. She is survived by one son George Brawn (Terry) of McLeod Hill, NB; two daughters Judy Pope (Andrew) of Fredericton and Heather Pugh (Jim Poore) of Douglas Harbour, NB; seven grandchildren Geoffrey Rankine (Tricia), Natalie Pugh (Mike), Krista Rue (Paul), Jason Pugh, Shelley Brawn, Ashley Brawn and Melanie Brawn; five great grandchildren; sisters Annie Graham of Oromocto and Jean Elgee of Fredericton and by many nieces and nephews. Inez was a member of the Kingsley United Baptist Church. She was employed at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital for many years, retiring in 1988, after which she enjoyed travelling. She was an avid reader and enjoyed the company of her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
The family will receive relatives and friends at Bishop’s Funeral Home, 540 Woodstock Road on Friday, January 10, 2014 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 11, 2014 at the Kingsley United Baptist Church at 2:00 PM with Rev. Chris Emery officiating. Interment will be in the Seymour Kingsley Cemetery in the spring. In lieu of flowers the family would appreciate donations in Inez’s memory to the Canadian Cancer Society or the NB Heart and Stroke Foundation.
