DOUCET, ALINE - 1933 - 2014 - In loving memory of Aline (Laplante) Doucet who passed away in her home in Bathurst, N.B. on January 6, 2014. Aline would have celebrated her 81st birthday in February 2014. She was born in Dalhousie, N.B., she was the daughter of the late Ubald and the late Laudia (Goudreau) Laplante. Beloved wife of the late Maurice “Buck” Doucet, and loving mother and mother in law of Michel and Monique Doucet of Bathurst, Claude and Nicole Doucet of Bathurst, Lyne and Bill Kiedaisch of Westport, CT and Diane and Jeffrey Poirier of Ottawa, Ont. Her loving grandchildren whom she adored: Eric and Julie Doucet, Nicholas and Lindsay Kiedaisch, Jeron and Brayden Poirier. Also survived by her two brothers: Gerry Laplante (Jeanne) of Chateauguay, Que., Gilles Laplante (Lydia) of Miramichi, N.B. and sisters-in-laws: Elvera Kennah (late Clifford) of Bathurst, Anne-Marie (Yvon Picot) of Calgary, and the late Rod (late Cathy) Doucet of Dorval, Que. She leaves behind many adoring nieces and nephews as well as numerous friends in the community. At the tender age of 16 years old, Aline began her life long career as an exceptional teacher. In her 30 year devotion, she was often mistaken as one of the students with her youthful look and petite stature. She touched the lives of thousands of students along her career path and was often quoted as the “Best Teacher” they ever had. Aline was an active member of the Sacred Heart Cathedral, CWL, Duplicate Bridge Clubs as a fierce competitor and teacher, Relay for Life & Cancer Research, Heart Association, Bathurst Curling Club, Retired Teachers Association, Line Dancing, Fabulous five, and many games/card friends, King Ave. residence/friends. Aline always had her camera to capture every important moment in her life. She was often referred to as the Paparazzi of Bathurst with her love of pictures. Her boundless energy and positive outlook on life, her extremely caring nature, her zest for life, her love of scrabble on Facebook, her ability to remember everyone’s birthdays and special moments, her competitive edge, made her a pillar in the community. As you would often here her say “C’est la vie!” Although she was a petite woman, she lived her life with grandeur and was a model to everyone she met. We will miss her dearly, may you Rest in Peace with Buck.
Visitation will be held at Elhatton’s Funeral Home on Friday, January 10, 2014 from 2 to 4, 7 to 9 and Saturday morning from 9 until time of funeral. The funeral will be held on Saturday, January 11, 2014 at 11:00 am from Sacred Heart Cathedral, Bathurst. Donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or a charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family.
