Canning, Frederick Harrison, Upper Stewiacke

Canning, Frederick Harrison – Age 70, Upper Stewiacke, passed away peacefully on January 9, 2014 at home. Born in Truro, he was a son of the late Earl and Edna (Harrison) Canning. Fred was a long-time dairy farmer and a life member of Upper Stewiacke Fire Department. He was a dedicated blood donor as long as his health permitted. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather, and will be sadly missed by his wife, Joanne; children, Teri (Walter) Conrad, Derick (Dawn), both of Upper Stewiacke; Tracey (Doug) McLean, Upper Musquodoboit; grandchildren, Jessica, Jenna, Matija, Karley, Holly, Aiden; brother, Brian, Lower Sackville; sister, Earline (George) Grant, Bedford; many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by sister-in-law, Karen Canning.

Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held on Sunday from 1-1:45 p.m., with funeral service at 2 p.m., all in Springside United Church, Upper Stewiacke, Rev. Carolyn Rushton officiating. Burial will be at a later date in Riverside Cemetery, Upper Stewiacke. Following the service, a reception will be held in the church hall. Family flowers only. Memorial donations may be made to Springside United Church general fund or Alzheimer’s Society of Nova Scotia. Many thanks to the VON home care support for their wonderful care and concern.
