MINGO, Stephen Carl -54, of Seashell Lane, Caribou River, died suddenly January 10, 2014 in the Halifax Infirmary. Born in New Glasgow, he was a son of the late Carl & Marion (Havill) Mingo. A quiet, caring homebody, with a great sense of humor, Stephen loved music and enjoyed playing the guitar. He was also known for his love of birds and animals (especially his cats). He loved living by the ocean and enjoyed life on the shore with long walks and the beauty of nature surrounding him. Most of all he will be remembered for his love of family and devotion to them as a husband, father, and brother. He is survived by his wife, Anne (MacKinnon) and son, Nicholas; sisters, Carol and Marilyn, both of Dartmouth; brother, John (Lillian), Caribou River; mother-in-law, Sharon MacKinnon, Seafoam; sisters-in-law, Charlotte (David), Brooks, Alberta and Carolyn (Andy), Edmonton; brothers-in-law, Scott and Norman, both of Edmonton; Rob (Melissa), Sylvan Lake, Alberta; many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his father-in-law, George MacKinnon and brother-in-law, Mike Vann. Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held 6-9 PM Monday in McLaren Funeral Home, Pictou. Funeral will be 2:00 PM Tuesday from St. David’s Presbyterian Church, Toney River, with Rev. Gregory Dickson officiating. Spring burial will be in the Riverbank Cemetery. Family flowers only please. Donations in his memory may be made to the Pictou County S.P.C.A. or the St. David’s Presbyterian Church.
