Neeltje "Nellie" Hamilton

HAMILTON, NEELTJE "NELLIE" HENDRIKA EVERDINA - 1919 - 2014 - It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our dear mother on January 6, 2014 at Spencer Memorial Home in Moncton, NB, formerly of Summerfield, Carlton County, NB. Born in Oldensaal, Netherlands, she was the war bride of the late Alvin Wood Hamilton of Tilley, NB. Nellie was a member of the Freewill Baptist Church, Bristol NB, also the Golden Age Club where she was an exercise leader for some years. She also worked as a clerk in a grocery store in Nijverdal, Holland, McCain Foods and Irving in Juniper. She was very athletic, swimming, snowshoeing, skating and hiking well into her 70's. She also loved to travel, going to her homeland several times, Arizona, and across Canada and to Australia. She loved big family gatherings at her home in Summerfield. She is survived by her sisters, Hetty Keppels (Wim), Rhoon, Holland, Gerda Burgraaf (Ton) Boekelo, Holland; her children, Rick Hamilton (Tina) Kincardine, Ontario, Ellen Martin (Bruce) Moncton, NB, Marita Brooker (Keith) Summerfield, NB; her grandchildren, Barbara Hamilton, Bob Hamilton , Chris Martin, Beth Martin, Mark Brooker, Melissa Dupuis; her six great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews in Holland.
Visitation will be held at L.R. Giberson Funeral Directors, 207 Burnham Road, Florenceville-Bristol, NB, January 20, 2014, 12:00 to 2:00 pm, funeral to follow. Following the funeral, all are invited to The Free Will Baptist Church, Bristol, NB. Interment to take place at a later date in the Summerfield Cemetery. Donations in lieu of flowers can be sent to The Free Will Baptist Church, Bristol, NB for the St. John Valley Bible Camp or Charity of one's choice.
