NEW GLASGOW – Barbara Eleanor "Caroline" Power, 51, of New Glasgow.
It is with great sadness we announce the passing of a very loving wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend, Caroline Power, on Wednesday, January 15, 2014, the in Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow.
Born in Montreal, she was a daughter of George and Martha (Reid) MacDonald.
Caroline was a very active woman, always with a huge smile, a fantastic attitude, and fervour for life. She had a huge heart, always with compassion for those around her. Caroline loved to spend time with her family and many friends, and especially loved to be with her grandson who always made her smile. Caroline spent her working career in customer service management, a position at which she, and as a result, her staff excelled, having garnered many awards and much recognition.
She is survived by her loving husband of 26 years, Peter J. Power; daughters: Lauren (Nick Dean), and Katie (Jonny Daye), New Glasgow; grandson, Bentley Dean; father, George MacDonald; brother, Mike MacDonald (New Glasgow); sisters-in-law: Anne-Marie (Mt. Pearl, NL); Teri (Teddy Schipper), Toronto; Cathie (Dean Simms), Winnipeg; nieces, Chantelle Power, Mt. Pearl, NL; Emily MacDonald; nephew, Matthew MacDonald, New Glasgow.
She was predeceased by her mother, Martha MacDonald, and many very close family members.
The family would especially like to thank the staff at the oncology department, Aberdeen Hospital, as well as the staff at the radiation clinic, Dickson Centre, Halifax.
Visitation will be from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Friday, January 17, in R.H. Porter Funeral Home, New Glasgow. Funeral will be held on Saturday, January 18 at 11 a.m. in R.H. Porter Funeral Home, New Glasgow with Rev. Norman Marple officiating.
Family flowers only please. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Lung Cancer Canada or a charity of choice.
