SURETTE, John Arthur "Jack" - 55, Milton Highlands, Yarmouth Co., passed away on Tuesday, January 14, 2014, at Yarmouth Regional Hospital. Born March 26, 1958 in Yarmouth, he was the son of the late Ronald and Dorothy (Melanson) Surette. Jack worked as bus mechanic at the Tri-County Regional School Board for the past 13 years. He was a dedicated volunteer firefighter for 30 years and in his spare time he loved woodworking, playing with his grandchildren and walks in town with his wife. Jack leaves behind his loving wife of 34 years, Brenda (Corporon) Surette, as well as his children, Cory Surette and Candice (Mark) Melanson, both of Yarmouth, and his beautiful grandchildren, Emerey Sisco (age 9), Aariah Surette (age 6), Aiden Melanson (age 3) and Dexter Melanson (age 6 months). Also surviving are his brothers and sisters, Earl (Judy) Surette, Hammonds Plains; Sharon Spinney, Argyle; Janet (Arthur) Dulong, Hubbard’s Point; Pat (Moraine) Surette, London, ON; Kay (Kenneth) Foster, Hubbard’s Point; Brian (Gayle) Surette, Lee (Marilyn) Surette, Leslie (Donna) Surette, all of London, ON; Kenny (Glenda) Surette, Plymouth. Aside from his parents, he was predeceased by brothers, Harold and Doug Surette. Cremation has taken place under the direction of H. M. Huskilson’s Funeral Home & Crematorium, Yarmouth, and there was no visitation by request. A funeral mass took place at 11 a.m., Monday, January 20 at Saint Ambrose Cathedral, Yarmouth, Rev. Mr. Stephen Bourque officiated. Interment followed in Our Lady of Calvary Cemetery, Yarmouth. Memorial donations may be made to the Firefighters Museum of Nova Scotia.
