It is with deep regret we announce the passing of our beautiful mother and friend Franklyn Isabel McCormack, formerly of 210 South St., on Thursday, January 23, at Seaview Manor.
Born in Glace Bay, she was the youngest daughter of the late Donald (Dan) Patterson and Johanna (Josie) MacDonald and the last remaining member of her family
Frankie was a member of Knox United Church, Glace Bay and a former President of Knox UCW, former regent of Isle Royale Chapter I.O.D.E., Glace Bay. Before her retirement she was employed by the federal Government Dept of National Revenue.
She is survived by two daughters, Jade Milley (Albert) Glace Bay, Barbara Rogers, Halifax; stepson John McCormack, Maple, Ont; seven grandchildren; special dog Glory.
Besides her parents she was predeceased by her first husband Thomas Dickson in 1962 and second husband Edward McCormack in 2005; grandsons, Brad and Charles; five brothers, David, Donald, Murdock, Hazard and John; three sisters Annie, Christine (Sis) and Rita.
Visitation will take place on Tuesday, January 28, from 1-2 p.m. in Curry’s Funeral Home, 775 Main St., Glace Bay. A funeral service will follow at 2 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. The Rev John Finlayson will be officiating. Interment will take place in the spring at Forest Haven Memorial Gardens. As per Frankie’s request there will be no reception.
