CARR, RAY - It is with profound sorrow we announce the passing of Ray Zenlo Carr of Thomas Hall – Shannex, Fredericton, NB, formerly of Geary, NB, on January 25, 2014. Ray was born in Geary, NB on June 30, 1923 to the late Arthur and Elizabeth (Till) Carr. He was the beloved husband of Myrtle (Smith) Carr for 68 years. In early life Ray was employed for 13 years as a truck driver for RG Smith Ltd hauling logs to the mill, loading lumber, pulp and, wood. When DND took over the Smith Mills, Ray worked for DCL for a couple of years then was employed by DND for 30 years. A gifted carpenter, he built several houses in the Geary area including his own. He loved to work in the woods and was never happier when he was on his tractor in the winter plowing snow so people could get out and about. His quiet and loving manner made him popular with everyone. He was an avid bowler and a member of the Kingswood Lunch Club. He was predeceased by six sisters, Mayme, Edith, Bertha, Mildred, Clarissa and Evelyn; two brothers, Melbourne and Rued and two nephews, Wayne Carr and Gerald Smith. He is the last surviving member of his immediate family. He is survived by many nieces and nephews. His great saying was “Live one day at a time.” The Carr family has lost a very precious member.
Visitation will be held at the Oromocto Funeral Home on Tuesday, January 28th, 2014 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. The Funeral Service will be held at the Oromocto Funeral Home Chapel on Wednesday, January 29th, 2014 at 2:00 pm. Rev. Mark Noel will officiate with Rev. Robert Foster assisting. Interment will take place at a later date in the Waterville Cemetery. Donations in Ray’s memory can be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
