GOREHAM, Merle Andrew “Popeye” – 63, of Yarmouth, formerly of Lower Woods Harbour, passed away on January 26, 2014, at the Yarmouth Regional Hospital. Born on April 16, 1950 in Lower Woods Harbour, Merle was a son of the late Osborne and Mellie (Lloyd) Goreham. He was a fisherman for many years and a tour guide Captain in Vancouver, B.C. In his final years he owned and operated a trucking business in Fort McMurray, Alberta. Merle was very adventurous, he traveled and settled with his family to many areas out west such as Ucluelet, B.C. In his last years in Fort McMurray he enjoyed fishing, traveling and spending time with his boys whom he truly loved. He is survived by his loving wife, Heather (LeBlanc) Goreham; sons, Isaac Osborne, Andrew Merle, stepsons, Matthew and Shawn; daughter, Rhonda Burrows; he also leaves behind, two granddaughters, two grandsons and two great grandchildren; sisters, Winnifred Conrad, Argyle; Shirley Wolfe, Southside; Rosemarie (Ken) Chetwynd, Barrington; brothers, Stephen (Myrna), Lower Woods Harbour; Osbourne “Ossie”, Lower Woods Harbour/Alberta; Frank Muise, East Pubnico. He was predeceased by a son, Dallas Sears; brother, Garth Goreham; nephew, Troy Goreham. Funeral arrangements were under the care and direction of H.M. Huskilson’s Funeral Home, 29 Albert Street, Yarmouth. By request of the family there was no visitation. A funeral service was held on Thursday, January 30 at 2:30 p.m. in the Calvary Baptist Church, Woods Harbour, Pastor Phil Williams officiated. An interment was held in the Greenwood Cemetery.
