UPTON, John David – 69, Rockville, Yarmouth Co., passed away on Wednesday, January 29, 2014 at home. Born August 6, 1944 in Port Hawkesbury, he was a son of the late William Henry and Mary Jane (Perry) Upton. John was a meat cutter by trade. He was known to be a great boxer and he loved the outdoors and especially enjoyed hunting. He also loved line dancing. He is survived by his wife, Sarah (Hagen) Upton, as well as his children, David (Amanda) Upton, Hebron; John (Pauline) Upton, Carleton; Andy (Jolee) Upton, Annapolis Valley; Carrie (Chris) Cushing, Deerfield and 11 grandchildren. Also surviving is a sister, Theresa (Buzz) Southern, Port Maitland; brothers, Douglas (Frances) Upton, Yarmouth and Joe Upton, Chegoggin, as well as his former wife, Joan L. (Grant) Nickerson. Aside from his parents, he was predeceased by sisters, Rosetta Upton, Ann Thomas, Margie Porter and Kay Douglas. Visitation took place from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Friday with prayers at 8 p.m., both at H. M. Huskilson’s Funeral Home & Crematorium, 29 Albert Street, Yarmouth, where a funeral service took place at 1 p.m., Saturday, February 1, Rev. Mr. Stephen Bourque officiating.
