Dorothy Mary Lockhart

The family of Dorothy Mary (Bishop) Lockhart of Fredericton, NB, are deeply saddened by her passing, early Thursday, January 30, 2014 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital.
Dorothy was born on August 16, 1925 in Sydney, NS; she was the loving wife of the late Winston Charles Lockhart, the daughter of the late Harold and Jessie (Black) Bishop.
Dorothy is survived by her granddaughter, Tara Cliff (Gordon) of Halifax, NS; two grandsons, Todd Bailey (Melissa) of Fredericton, NB and Richie Lockhart of ON; three great-grandchildren, Sterling and Jeremy Cliff, and Abigail Bailey; several nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents and husband, Dorothy was predeceased by her daughter, Cheryl Bailey; son, Richard Lockhart; sisters, Mabel Bishop, Jean MacLean and Louise Hatt and brother, Lloyd Bishop.
She will be remembered as a loving, giving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and friend. She will be profoundly missed by all her family, friends and extended family. She has touched many people in her lifetime; her loving and teaching spirit will live in our hearts forever. Dorothy took great pride in being the First Senior Goodwill Ambassador with the Province of NB (recently reappointed for another term), a lifetime member of the I.O.D.E., a member of UCW and an Honorary Member of St. Mary's First Nation’s and given the name "Bzazam”(the Star). She was a member of Senior Advisory Committee, for the City of Fredericton and was involved with the Brownies and Guides. In recognition for her dedication and involvement in the community over her lifetime, she was recently awarded the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Award.
A Memorial Service will take place at Gibson Memorial United Church on Tuesday, February 4, 2014 at 2 p.m. with Rev. Cora Krommenhoek officiating; reception to follow. Interment will take place in Sunny Bank Cemetery at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made at the Gibson Memorial United Church, to the I.O.D.E. or to the charity of the donor’s choice.
