Peacefully at the Palliative Care Unit of the Community Hospital, O'Leary, on Thursday, January 30, 2014, with her loving family by her side, of Leonie Mary Gaudet, beloved wife of the late Leo A. Gaudet of Harper Road, age 96 years. Born at Nail Pond on August 22, 1917, she was the daughter of the late Michael and Rosalie (nee Arsenault) Bernard. Lovingly remembered by her daughter Eileen Gaudet (Albert McLeod) of Harper Road, and by grandchildren: Janet MacDonald, Stephen Spears, Stephanie (Andrew) Watkinson, Michelle Elliott (Greg Hyland), James Elliott (Pam Chesel), Shannan Keough (Bobby Kennedy), and Shane Keough. Great-grandmother to April, William, Shayne, and Ava. Dear sister to Gerard (Auldine) Bernard of Nail Pond; Velma Knox of Halifax; Rosalie (Edward) Gaudet of Summerside. She is also survived by her many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a foster son Paul (late Linda) Keough, siblings Cyrus Bernard, Amelia Knox and Ann Gaudet, mother and father-in-law Amable and Mary Gaudet, and by brothers and sisters-in-law, Leslie Knox, Lorne Knox, Mark Gaudet, Eva Bernard, Freda Bernard, Arthur (Lizzie) Gaudet, Abby (Anna) Gaudet, Joseph (Mae and Annie Mae) Gaudet, Emile Gaudet, Aubin Gaudet, and Catherine (John) LeClair. Resting at the Rooney Funeral Home, Alberton. Visiting hours Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral on Monday morning, Feb. 3, 2014, from St. Simon and St. Jude Church, Tignish, with funeral mass at 1 p.m., Rev. Brendon Gallant, celebrant. Interment later in the church cemetery. As an expression of sympathy, memorials to the West Prince Hospice and Palliative Care or Community Inclusions would be gratefully appreciated. The Tignish Council of the CWL will hold prayers for their departed sister Sunday evening at 6:45 p.m.
