1934-2014
The death of Iris Patricia Rogers, 79, occurred at the Westford Nursing Home, Port Elgin, on Thursday, January 30, 2014.
Born in Charlottetown, Iris was a daughter of the late Luke and Sarah Clinton. Iris was a member of the St. Clements Roman Catholic Church in Port Elgin. She worked as a Guider for many years with the Girl Guides of Canada. She had a good sense of humor and liked to sing, especially “Love Me Tender” by Elvis.
She will be sorely missed by her sons Allan, of Halifax, Mark and Stephen, both of Beaverlodge, Alberta; a granddaughter Tiffany and a great-granddaughter Serenity; sisters, Doris, Jean and Ruth; a brother Elden (Diane); and a sister-in-law, Ernestine. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. She was dearly loved by Wally’s family, and will be missed by Marie, Joseph, Doris, Freda, Jean, Evelyn, Derma, Lloyd (Georgina), Vernon, Shirley, and Roy.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband Wallace (Wally) Rogers; a sister Mary (Late Herbie) Oatway; brothers, Art, Louis, Elmer, Maurice, Lorne (Late Hazel), brother Earl (Late Mary), John and Lloyd, as well as brothers-in-law, Fred, Mac, Harvey, and Howie. On Wally’s side, she was predeceased by her father and mother-in-law, Raymond and Emma; sister-in-law, Hilda, and brothers-in-law, Jim, Gerald, and Everett.
A special thank you from the boys is extended to Gwen Brine and the entire staff of the Westford Nursing Home for their kindness and compassion.
Arrangements are under the care and supervision of the Jones Funeral Home, Port Elgin Chapel, 3 West Main (506-538-2241) from where a time of visitation will be held 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. on Tuesday, February 4, 2014. A funeral service will be held at the St. Clements Roman Catholic Church, Port Elgin, on Wednesday at 10 a.m. Father Allison Carroll officiating. Iris will be laid to rest alongside her husband in the St. Clements Parish Cemetery in the spring.
