BANGAY, William “Roy” Thomas, 78 of Carleton, Yarmouth County, passed away Sunday, February 2, 2014 in the Yarmouth Regional Hospital. Born July 24, 1935 in Yarmouth he was the son of the late Percy and Irene (LeBlanc) Bangay. Roy was enlisted in the Royal Canadian Armed Forces from 1953 to 1971. He enjoyed farming, hunting, raising cocker spaniels and rabbits and spending time with his faithful dog Buddy. Roy is survived by his wife, Barbara; Sons, Smokey, Brampton, Ont. ; Edward (Rose), Shediac , N.B.; Robert, Vancouver, B.C.; step children, Carolyn Penny (Troy), Rockville; Colleen Melanson (Kelly Hryhor), Berwick; Colette Crosby (Brian), South Ohio; Randy Melanson (Susan King) Truro; brothers, Jack Bangay, Vancouver, B.C.; Bruce Bangay, Belleville; Rickey Bangay, Lockport; sister Doreen Pigeon, Quebec; and loved by many grandchildren. He was predeceased by brother George and sister Sandra. There was a Royal Canadian Legion Service, Thursday, February 6, 2014 at 1:30 p.m. followed by a Memorial Service At 2:00 p.m. all at Sweenys Funeral Home and Chapel, Rev A.D Bill Newell officiated. A reception followed at the Fire Hall in Carleton. Memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or charity of your choice.
