RICHARD, REBECCA J. - It is with sad hearts that the family of the Rebecca Jane Richard announce her passing at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital on Tuesday, February 4, 2014 at the age of 67. As in life she demonstrated courage and resolve in her final hours. Born in Fredericton on April 30, 1946, she was a daughter of the late Robert and Margaret (Holland) Higgins. Rebecca was employed as a Department Manager with Walmart for 30 years retiring in 2008. She was an active member of the Fredericton Heart Support Group and was an avid reader. She always enjoyed spending time at the family camp at Grand Lake. Rebecca loved and was loved by her devoted family. She loved her family dearly especially her grandchildren. As expressed so lovingly by her children, “She was the best Mom that ever lived.” She leaves behind her loving and devoted husband of 48 years, Ron; her cherished children, Ron (Amanda Miller) of Minto and Nancy Kingston (Jeff) of Fredericton and three much loved grandchildren, Keisha, Patrick and Cole. Rebecca is also survived by a sister-in-law Donna Weaver (Donald) of Nasonworth, a niece Jennifer and a nephew Billy. The last surviving member of her immediate family, Rebecca was predeceased by her parents and sister, Anna Higgins.
There will be no visitation hours by request, however, relatives and friends are welcome to join the family at a funeral service to be held from Bishop’s Funeral Home Chapel, 540 Woodstock Road, Fredericton on Thursday, February 6, 2014 at 2:00 PM. with Rev. Wayne Flowers officiating. Interment will be held in the Marysville United Church Cemetery at a later date. Those wishing to make donations in memory of Rebecca Jane Richard are asked to consider the NB Heart and Stroke Foundation and The Canadian Cancer Society.
