TRENTON – It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Lyda Kathleen (Forward) Reynolds. She passed away peacefully at Valley View Villa in Stellarton on February 5, 2014 surrounded by her family.
Born in Trenton on July 26, 1925, she was a daughter of the late Dawe and Laura (Russell) Forward.
Lyda lived most of her life in Trenton and during World War II, worked at the Shell Finish Department at the Trenton Works. In 1946, she married her late husband, George William Reynolds and became a full time mother to her four children: Shirley Doucette (Paul), Trenton; George, Vancouver; Marilyn Chiasson (Ronald), Merigomish and Marion McCarron (Philip), New Glasgow.
Lyda was a loving and gentle soul who had a great passion for music. She entertained her family and friends with her beautiful singing voice. Along with her love of music, she wrote poetry and a number of songs.
Besides her children, she is survived by her grandchildren: Jennifer Doucette (Ricky), Trenton; Derek McCarron (Danielle), Trenton; Stephen Chiasson (Stacey), Trenton; Ashley MacBride (Tyler), Bridgewater; along with great-grandchildren: Bailey, Nolan, Jorji, Isla, Violet, Kolby and Quinn. Lyda is also survived by brothers: Arthur, George and Victor (Sharon); sisters: Jean Forrest, Donna Fitzgerald (Raymond) and Marilyn Croke (Dave); sisters-in-law, Marion Forward and Violet Forward as well as many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband George, parents Dawe and Laura, brothers, Charles (Ethel) and Gordon, sisters: Doris and Aileen; in-laws: Victor MacDonald, Ian Forrest, Dorothy Forward, Fraser MacPherson, Marion Stewart, Doug Reynolds, Gordon Reynolds, Mima Hale and Gladys Stewart.
Special thanks to the staff at Valley View for their kindness and compassion.
Visitation 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Sunday in the R.H. Porter Funeral Home, Trenton, from where a family service will be held at 1 p.m. Monday with Mr. Fergie MacKay officiating. Burial will be in Heatherdale Memorial Gardens at a later date.
Family flowers only please. Donations in her memory may be made to the Alzheimer’s Society or a charity of choice.
