Faith Amy Snow Nicolle (nee Payne)

(March 2, 1922 - February 5, 2014) - Passed peacefully away in the presence of her children at Bonne Bay Health Centre on Wednesday, February 5th, 2014, Amy Nicolle of Rocky Harbour, at the age of 91. Left with deep and loving memories, sister Lorraine Graves of New Minas, NS, children Nancy (Dirk) van der Meulen of Belgium, Edward Snow of Rocky Harbour, Lorraine (Andrew) Major of St. John's, daughter-in-law Monica Snow (Rod) of Hudson, Ma., and special daughter, Alvina Rose of Spruce Grove, Alberta, grandchildren Perry, Edward, Dion, Kirby and Cassandra Decker, Angela (Osama), Theresa and Charles Snow, Alex Snow, Rebecca (Dion) Everett, Julia, Jessica and Andrea Major, Candace, Michael and Cody Rose, 5 great-grandchildren, and many other family and friends. She was predeceased by parents Leslie and Mary Payne, husbands Charles Snow and Alexander Nicolle, son Rod Snow, sister Annie Payne, brother Ned Payne and daughter-in-law Caroline Reid. Amy was a wonderful woman with a deep faith in God, who loved life and people. She was a great community organizer, and was actively involved in numerous church and community organizations. She started teaching at the age of 15, a career which she loved dearly. After taking a number of years off while her children were young, she returned to teaching in 1967 and continued until her retirement in 1987. Besides teaching, Amy's special joy was in sharing some of her many stories with family and with friends, old and new, over a cup of tea. Visitation will be at St. Matthew's Anglican Church visitation room on Friday, February 7th from 2-4 and 7-9PM. Funeral service on Saturday, February 8th, 2014 at 11 AM from St. Matthew's Anglican Church, Rocky Harbour, with Cannon Louise Richards officiating, internment to follow at the Anglican cemetary, Rocky Harbour. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Amy's memory to the Canadian Cancer Society, the Alzheimer's Society or to Matthews Anglican Church in Rocky Harbour.
