SKALING, PETER FREDERICK - Peter F. Skaling of Nackawic, NB passed away February 8, 2014 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital. Peter was born at Saint John, NB in 1947, a son of Charlotte Skaling and the late Captain Gordon Skaling. He was a teacher by profession, teaching math and gym and later was employed with St. Anne Pulp Company for twenty five years. Peter enjoyed woodworking, golfing, country music and was a Toronto Maple Leafs fan. He was a member of the Nackawic Lions Club, involved with their charity work and was a coach for Goal-Ball for blind sports. Peter is survived by his wife, Julie (Lounsbury) Skaling; his children, Stacey (Norman), Stephanie, Gordon and Megan; his mother, Charlotte Skaling-Hull; his brother, Arthur; sisters-in-law, Shirley Burgess and Edith Maillet; brother-in-law, Zane Lounsbury (Patricia); nieces Heather, Wendi and Jennifer and nephew Andrew. In addition to his father, Peter was predeceased by a brother Dan.
Visitation will be held at the Nackawic Lions Club, Otis Drive, Nackawic on Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral service will be held at the Lions Club on Wednesday, February 12, 2014 at 2 p.m. with Rev. Ryan Farrell officiating. A reception will follow at the Lions Club. A Lions Club Tribute Service will be held Tuesday evening at 6:45. For those who wish to make a donation in memory of Peter, the family has suggested the Nackawic Lions Club or Canadian Cancer Society.
