PORTER, DIANE G. - It is with sad hearts that the family of Diane Gretchen Porter of Fredericton, NB announces her passing at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital on Sunday, February 9, 2014, at the age of 77. Born in Saint John, NB, she was a daughter of the late Frederick and Winnifred (Woodley) Bamford. Diane was a very active member at the St. John the Evangelist Anglican Church participating in many of the church events, including being part of the Monday night prayer group. Diane worked as a security officer at the DECH before she retired. She volunteered many hours a week to help many organizations including, the Relay for Life, Cancer survivors support group, DECH Chapel, York Care Center, Pine Grove Nursing Home, Red Cross, Girl Guides of Canada, Fire fighters breakfast club and the Tim Hortons group. Diane is survived by her three daughters; Linda McHatten (Brian) of Woodstock, NB, Judy Burgess (John) of Fredericton, NB and Janice Buck (Brian) of Bridgewater, NS, seven grandchildren; Robert McHatten, Jennifer Burpee, Ronnie, Stephen, Abby Burgess, Ryan and Evan Buck, three great granddaughters, a great grandson, one sister Joy Price of Perth, ON, two brothers, James Bamford(Cheryl) of Peticodiac, Tony Bamford (Judy) of Rothesay, one brother-in-law Greg Molloy of Saint John, close family friend Brian Hubbard, and her special cat Mr. Murphy as well as several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Vincent and a son Larry, sister Linda Molloy and two great granddaughters Samantha Mae and Olivia Grace.
Visitation will be held from Bishops Funeral Home, 540 Woodstock Road, Fredericton on Wednesday, February 12th, 2014 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM. Funeral Service will be held Thursday, February 13th, 2014 at 3 PM from Christ Church Parish Church 245 Westmoreland Street with Rev. Canon Bill McMullin officiating. Interment will be held in the Sunny Bank Cemetery at a later date. Those wishing to make donations in memory of Diane are asked to consider the St. John the Evangelist Anglican Church, SPCA or a charity of the donor’s choice.
