MUISE, John Docite– age 88, of Yarmouth, passed away at the Yarmouth Regional Hospital on February 13, 2014. Born on Surette’s Island, Yarmouth Co., N.S. on August 30, 1925 he was the son of the late Louis and Ursula (Surette) Muise. John was a loving father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend to many. He was a devote Catholic and served as a Eucharistic Minister for the church. John had a great sense of humor and was a passionate and skillful bridge player who was well respected in the bridge community. He was known to be a perfectionist and served as a role model for those around him to strive to be better. This was no more evident than in his chosen profession as a shoemaker which he did for over 60 years and loved every minute of it. He took pride in his work and was self-employed at his store Johnny`s Shoe Repair. John also was a World War II veteran and served our country overseas. He had a life well lived and had absolutely no regrets. He is survived by his son, David (Linda) Muise, The Pas, Manitoba; daughters, Beverley (Peter) Keech, Yarmouth; Susan (Kevin) Muise-Cormier, Moncton, N.B.; brothers, Gerald, Yarmouth; Edward, Pubnico; sisters, Irene, Boston, Mass; Rita, Kingston, ON; grandchildren; Graham, Candice, Kelsey, Alix, Marc, Vicki; great grandchildren, Logan, Dee, Brady, Payton, Lucas, Mackenzie, Madison, Abby, Makayla. Besides his parents he was predeceased by his loving wife Bernice (Saulnier), who John took the best care of during her long struggle with Alzheimer’s even though it was not always the easiest of tasks at times; brothers, Lawrence and Benny; sisters, Julia, Evelyn and Marion. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Sweeny’s Funeral Home and Crematorium, Yarmouth. Visitation took place Sunday February 16, 2014 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in Sweeny’s Funeral Home Chapel with prayers at 8 p.m. A funeral mass was held Monday February 17, 2014 at 2 p.m. from Saint Ambrose Cathedral with Father Pat O`Meara officiating. Interment followed in Our Lady of Calvary Cemetery followed by a reception in the Saint Ambrose Jubilee Room. Family flowers only. Donations in memory may be made to the Nova Scotia Heart and Stroke Foundation.
