HARRIS , Heather Dawn, 61, of Upper Port La Tour, passed away on Wednesday, February 5, 2014 at the Yarmouth Regional Hospital, Yarmouth. Born on October 3, 1952 in Sandy Point, she was a daughter of the late Charlie and Cora (Nickerson) Acker. Heather was a loving wife, mother, grand-mother, great grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She will be sadly missed by all who knew her. Heather was a neighbourhood Mom to many children. She loved to spend time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who brought her so much joy. A kind and giving friend, Heather enjoyed cooking, crocheting, playing bingo and spending time at the cottage. She is survived by her husband, Ivan; sons, Charlie (Rhonda) Harris, Carl (Sandy) Harris, Ivan (Deb) Harris and step-son, Wayne (Sheila) Adams; daughters, Coralee (George) Weeks and step-daughters, Wendy (Paul) Cosley and Wanda Adams; grandchildren, Big Jess, Little Jess, Morgan, Courtney, Shelby and Aidan; step-grandchildren, Peggy, Paul, and Jennifer; great-grandchildren, Chloe and Reid. Heather is also survived by brothers, George (Chrissy) Acker and Gene (Channah) Acker; sisters, Elizabeth Poirier, Grace Holmes, Kim (Bob) Stewart and Leona (Dave) Muise; many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents; step-daughter, Anita; brothers, Zenophen and Charles and sister, Lillian. The funeral service was held on Thursday, February 13, 2013 at from the H.M. Huskilson’s Memorial Chapel. Pastor Phil Williams officiating. Interment to follow in the Parkdale Cemetery. Donations to the Rosalin Nickerson Care Fund or Roseway Manor.
