We announce with deep sorrow the passing of Madeline, on February 18th, 2014 at the Cove Guest Home surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Sydney, she was the daughter of the late Desire and Julia Phillippo.
Madeline was employed by the Cape Breton Addiction Centre and the Naval Base in Point Edward and was a chartered member of the Ladies Auxiliary Branch 126, Westside Legion as well as a devoted member of the Holy Rosary Parish. She enjoyed playing Bingo, cards and dancing. Gran’s loving heart always welcomed everyone into her home. She was always ready and willing to attend any family functions and was the life of the party. She was fortunate enough to enjoy five sets of a five generation family.
Madeline is survived by her daughter Judy (Frank); sister Edwardine and brothers Joseph and John.
She is predeceased by her husband Maurice; sons Stephen and Maurice Jr.; brothers, Peter, Paul, Andrew, Desire, Frank, Maurice and sister Jean.
Gran will be greatly missed by her grandchildren Suzanne (Bernie), Nancy (Michael), Linda, Ronnie (Donna), Kenny (Sandra), James (Lisa) and Colby. As well as her great-grandchildren, Tasha, Christa, Danielle, Alisha, Ryan, Bradley, Chloe, Amy, Michael, Kayla, Riley and Brandon. And great-great grandchildren Parker, Cole, Addison, Cruze, and Jonathan. She was very well loved by numerous nieces and nephews.
We, the family, would like to thank the Cove Guest Home staff for their care and support.
Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, February 21, 2014, at the SW Chant & Son Funeral Home, 564 Alexandra St., with Rev. Sheldon Chant officiating. Interment to take place at a later date in Holy Rosary Cemetery, Westmount.
