Gervais: Alice Gervais of Ponteix, SK passed away 24 days shy of 107 years old. Alice the daughter of Napoleon Carignan and Delphine Poisson, and was on born March 8th, 1907 in Saint Elizabeth de Worwick, Quebec. Alice married Armand Gervais on November 8th, 1926. They were blessed with seven children; Yvette, Andre, Roland, Liliane, Robert, Marcelle, and Leo. Mom was fortunate to have good health. She was never idle. She could cook wonderful meals with very little. Her famous apple pies and flapper pies were well known to family and friends. Mom was a great seamstress, which was a great way of helping financially while raising her family. She spent 20 years sewing for the Sisters of Notre Dame. Her greatest challenge came when the sisters modernized their "Habits". Mom enjoyed "The Golden Age Club" for many years. She belonged to a canasta club, was a member of "The Ladies of Saint Anne", and later became a member of "The Catholic Women's League". She took three trips from her native province, one to Hawaii and always looked forward to the many trips visiting her children and grandchildren. Her hobbies were Petit Point and ceramics. Her children and grandchildren have many cherished pieces. Mom moved to the Manor in June 1982 then to the Foyer St. Joseph Nursing Home in July 2000 until her passing. Mom was predeceased by her husband Armand Gervais; daughters Yvette and Marcelle; sons Andre, Roland, and Leo; sons-in-law Richard Bourlon and Edmund Zerr; parents Napoleon and Delphine Carignan; three step mothers, Amanda Morin, Alma Bouchard and Sidonie Noel; brother and sister-in-law Edward (Marie Anna) Carignan; sisters and brothers-in-law, Antoinette (Jean Nadeau), Clara (Arthur Lallier), Irma (Rene Prive), Florence (Antonio Hamel & Laurent Roy), and Corrine (Omer Gauthier). She is survived by her children Liliane Bourlon of Ponteix, Robert (Denise) Gervais of Almonte, Ontario, daughter-in-law Simone Gervais of Morinville, Alberta; 13 grandchildren, 32 great grandchildren, 23 great great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. A celebration of her life was celebrated by Father Amedee Ainemon on Monday, February 17, 2014 at Notre Dame Roman Catholic Church. Interment followed at the Notre Dame Parish Cemetery. A fellowship gathering took place in the Ponteix Cultural Centre after the interment. A special thank you to the staff at the Foyer St. Joseph for the years of good care Mom received.
