It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Sidney Reynish who lost his battle with cancer. Sid passed away at the Victoria Hospital in Prince Albert, SK on Friday, February 21, 2014, at the age of 82, with his family by his side. Sid was born on June 10, 1931 in the Winton District near Birch Hills. After a short career with Sask Power Sid worked on many farms in Birch Hills area and raising pigs. He ended up maintaining and constructing roads for the RM of St. Louis for many years. After retiring several times Sid married his second wife Myrdena and then settled down in Birch Hills. Sid was predeceased by: his parents Edward and Mavis (nee Grewcock) Reynish; his first wife Ruby (nee Gregson) Reynish; his granddaughter Brenda Murakami; his sisters Ethel McKenna (Pat), Phyllis Armstrong (Army); his brothers Leslie (Carol), Daniel (Stella) and Jimmy (Brenda). Sid will be dearly missed by his loving family: his second wife Myrdena (nee Pladsen) Reynish; his sisters Edna Franklin (Glen), Mildred Naish (Ralph), Gladys Ferguson (Lionel); his brothers Stanley (Annette), Wilfred (Marj) and Ted (Gayle). Sid will also be missed by his first family: his sons Sydney (Lucille), Searl (Laura), Steven (Wanda) and his daughter Sandra Soucy (Henry); his second family: his daughters Christine Brown (Allan), Helen Lockhart (Marcel) and Linda Evans (Darrell). Both of these families include a large number of grandchildren, great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews as well as numerous extended family members and close friends. Memorial service to celebrate Sid will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 1 from River Park Memorial Chapel. Mr. Duane Mohn will officiate. Light refreshments will be served in the Arbor Lounge of River Park Memorial Chapel following the service. It is the family’s request that in lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Birch Hills Historical Society or charity of donor’s choice.
