Pates: William James Pates, age 87, of Swift Current, SK passed away Monday, February 10, 2014 at the Cypress Regional Hospital. A private family graveside service will be held in the spring at Mount Pleasant Burial Park. Bill is survived by his son Ronald Pates and family of Calgary, AB and daughter Tracey Harrison and family of Calgary, AB. He was predeceased by his wife Phyllis Mae Pates on February 12, 2013. Bill was born in Regina,SK on March 25, 1926 and received his formal education in Regina. He was married to Phyllis Freed in June of 1951 in Swift Current, SK and lived and raised his family in the city. Bill worked for the Saskatchewan Liquor Board in Swift Current and enjoyed many years of golfing at the Elmwood Golf and Country Club, which was one of his passions aside from hockey.
