The death occurred at the Maplewood Manor, Alberton, on Saturday, March 1, 2014, of Josephine Doucette, formerly of Palmer Road North, aged 94 years. Wife of the late Leo A. Doucette. She was born in Rumford, Maine, on June 9, 1919, the daughter of the late Joe and Catherine (nee Perry) Gallien. Dear mother to Jean Firth (friend Lloyd Mallard), Charlottetown; Julia (Leonard) Richard, Tignish; Emmanuel Doucette, Summerside; Roy (Joann) Doucette, Toronto; David Doucette, Sea Cow Pond; Leigh (Rose) Doucette, Toronto; Kevin (Evanne) Doucette, Palmer Road; and Dott (Edward) Martin, St. Roch. Loving grandmother to 37 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren. She is survived by a brother Bill (Cathy) Gallien, Skinner’s Pond; and a brother-in-law Freddie (Edna) Gaudet, Tignish. She was predeceased by her husband Leo, parents Joe and Catherine, sons Paul and Johnny and a daughter Joan Anne, sisters Geraldine, Julia, and Lorette and a brother Leo. Resting at the West Prince Funeral Home, 522 Thompson Road, for visiting hours Wednesday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and Thursday from 9 to 10 a.m. Funeral will be held at the Immaculate Conception Church, Palmer Road, where funeral mass will be celebrated Thursday, March 6, at 10:30 a.m. by Rev. Arthur Sequeira. Memorial donations to the P.E.I. Lung Association would be greatly appreciated. Interment will take place at a later date.
