Passed peacefully away during the early morning hours on March 3, 2014 at the Health Sciences Center after a lengthy illness and celebrating her 85th Birthday surrounded by her family. She is predeceased by her husband, our father, Amos (1978), son Lester (2005) and daughter Sandra Pittman (2006). She is survived by her children, Hilda Sheppard (Frank), Betty Ackerman (Edward), Roland (Deborah), Larry (Elizabeth) and Rosaline Ford (Wilfred). Son and daughter in law, Roland Pittman & Margaret Barnes. Sixteen grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren. Two brothers, Raymond (Helen) & Earl (Gertie) Rideout. Sisters in law, Nina West, Shirley Barnes, Gertie Barnes, & Jean Barnes. As well as many other relatives and friends. Mom had made many friends during her earthly journey and was well known and always ready to lend a helping and friendly hand. The family would like to express our sincere appreciation to the Staff of 4 South A of the Health Sciences Center for helping to make Mom's last days comfortable. Appreciation is also being extended to the Staff of the Dialysis Units at both the Waterford and HSC who cared for Mom for the past 3 years. The family would also like to send a sincere appreciation and thanks to the Staff and Residents of Karwood Retirement Retreat where Mom called "home" for the past 3 years for the kindness and friendships that was shown to her. Remains resting at St. Mary's Anglican Church Harbour Mille on Tuesday March 4th at 2pm (Family Only). Public visitation from 7pm-9pm, and all day Wednesday March 5th. Funeral Service to take place on Thursday March 6th at 2pm from St. Mary's Anglican Church Harbour Mille. Interment to follow at St. Mary's Anglican Cemetery Harbour Mille. As an expression of sympathy, flowers greatly being accepted. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the care of Warren's Funeral Home Grand Bank.
