Edith Eloise Squires

85, Bible Hill, passed away Sunday evening, March 2, 2014, at Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro.
Born October 7, 1928, in St. Peter's Bay, P.E.I., she was a daughter of the late Gordon and Maude (MacCallum) Sanderson. Edith was a long-time member of St. David's United Church and the UCW. A true character, 'Edith stories' kept family and friends entertained over the years. Never one to mince words, Edith spoke her mind and was forthcoming on all subjects - "mister man let me tell you".
Edith is survived by her daughters, Donna MacKenzie (Garry Allegretto), Cable Head East, P.E.I.; Kim Squires (Paul Murphy), Halifax, N.S.; son, Trevor Squires (Janis Mitts), Toronto, ON; grandchildren, Nicole Reavis, Phoenix, Arizona; Hannah Squires, Toronto, ON; great-grandchildren, Harrison and Campbell Reavis, Phoenix, Arizona; sisters, Marion Langford, B.C.; Alta (Jack) Mulligan, Judy Sanderson, Charlottetown, P.E.I.; brothers, Ted Sanderson, Guy (Gae) Sanderson, Cable Head East, P.E.I.; nieces, Louise and Karen; nephews, David, Bruce, Gordon, Dale, Brent, "little" David; extended family, Arthur and Pat Murphy; Gavin, Tammy, Ryan and Evan Murphy; Chris, JoAnna, Meghan and Kate Barrett.
Along with her parents, Edith was predeceased by her husband, John Sterling Squires; son, John Sterling Squires, Jr. "Dewey"; brother, Ralph Sanderson; sister, Florence Sanderson (in infancy); niece, Joanne.
As per Edith's wishes, there will be no visitation. Arrangements for cremation have been entrusted to Mattatall ~ Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro. A graveside service and interment of her ashes will be held in Bible Hill Cemetery at a later date under the direction of Rev. Donna Lawrence.

Thank you to all who provided care, patience, kindness and respect as Edith maintained her independence. An added special thanks to neighbours, Martha, Gelda, Jerry and Audrey.
