The death occurred peacefully at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Charlottetown, P.E.I., on Saturday, March 8, 2014, of Mary Beatrice MacLean (nee Marchbank) of Summerside, P.E.I., and formerly of Lot 16, aged 94 years.
Mary was born on September 11, 1919, in New Annan, P.E.I., to her late parents Percy and Florence (nee Cairns) Marchbank. Beloved wife of the late Kenneth MacLean and loving mother of twin daughters Gloria of Summerside, Gail (Warren) Harris of Saint John, N.B., son Roy of Summerside and son-in-law Dr. David (Jeanne) Large of Port Joli, N.S. Also lovingly remembered by her grandchildren, Peter (Deidre) Large, Phillip (Nancy) Large, Adam (Racquel) MacLean, six great-grandchildren, three step-grandchildren, six step-great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents and husband, Mary was predeceased by her daughter Marilyn Large, sisters Ernestine (Scott) Connell, Marjorie Cairns and brother Jack Marchbank.
Resting at the East Prince Funeral Home, 245 Pope Road, Summerside, until Tuesday, March 11, then to Lot 16 United Church, Lot 16, for a funeral service at 3 p.m. Interment to take place in the church cemetery at a later date. Memorial donations in Mary’s memory to the Prince County Hospital Foundation or the Lot 16 United Church Cemetery would be greatly appreciated. Visiting hours Monday 2–4 and 7–9 p.m.
