Archibald Joseph “Francis”  MacKenzie

It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Archibald Joseph “Francis” MacKenzie, 68 of Amherst on Thursday, March 6, 2014 at the Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre in Upper Nappan following a short illness.
Born October 2, 1945 in New Glasgow, NS, Francis was a son of Mary E. (Campbell) MacKenzie, Amherst and the late Carl J. MacKenzie.
Francis enjoyed all type of sports, especially hockey and baseball. He was a true Maple Leaf and Blue Jays fan. He also loved to play his guitar and listening to various musicians.
A deep sea fisherman, Francis worked in Alaska and Lunenburg for many years, and later raked blueberries in Cumberland County.
Besides his mother Mary, and sister, Valerie MacKenzie, Pickering, ON; Francis is also survived by his daughters, Elaine MacKenzie, Dartmouth, NS and Jackie (Fraser) Allen, Waverly, NS; beloved grandchildren; great grandson; as well as the mother of his children, Charlene Baker, Alberta; many nieces, nephews, extended family and numerous amazingly close friends.
Besides his father Carl, Francis was predeceased by his twin sisters, Eleanor Ann MacKenzie and Elaine Marie MacKenzie.
As per Francis wishes cremation has taken place and there will be no services at this time.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the L.A. Animal Shelter.
Arrangements are under the care and direction of Campbell’s Funeral Home, Amherst (667-9906).
