Aletha Good

GOOD, ALETHA - Aletha Fanny “Potter” Good, 95, of Truro, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 10, 2014 at Vimy Court Truro. Born in Loggieville NB, she was a daughter of the late William and Janet (Powers) Potter. Aletha graduated from the School of Nursing in Montreal and was a registered nurse for her full working career. She was a 50 year Breast Cancer Survivor. A member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Myrtle Chapter # 21 and Prince Charles Chapter in the Miramichi. She was a tour guide for bus trips of which she arranged many for a lot of years following her retirement. She was known for her great compassion, kindness, humor and wit to all who knew her. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She is survived by daughter, Gayle Smith (Clarence McKay), Truro; sons, Grant (Sharon), Fredericton, Gregory (Jeanne), Black Lands; grandchildren, Bradley, Brandon, Jordan, Kristin, Anita, Holland; great-grandchildren, Jayde, Lilly, Hailey, Jaxon; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Ernest Silas Good; daughter, Martha Louise in infancy; son, Jock; sister, Betty Harrison; brothers, Wilmer and Irving Potter.
No visitation or flowers by request. Funeral service will be held 1pm Monday, March 17, in the Mattatall ~ Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street Truro, with Rev. Cecil Symes officiating. Interment at a later date in the New Mills Cemetery, Black Lands NB. Donations in Aletha’s memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
