Roberta Bumphrey

Passed on: March 5th, 2014

BUMPHREY, ROBERTA (Nee: Spicer)
August 18th, 1946 – March 5th, 2014
It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Roberta on Wednesday, March 5th, 2014. Her memory will be forever cherished by her siblings: Vic, Ed, Carol and Brent and their respective families. Roberta was predeceased by her parents, Gwynneth and Ken Spicer; and her younger brother, Keith Spicer. Roberta was the eldest of 6 children and was born and raised in Moose Jaw. She worked at the PFRA in Moose Jaw from 1964 until her retirement in 2003. She was very family oriented, enjoying many family get-togethers, most recently hosting family for the November 2013 Grey Cup. Go Riders! There was not anything she wouldn’t do for her family, especially family dinners, Christmas celebrations at her home and attending the occasional football games. RB was a dedicated sister, sister-in-law and aunt to 6 nieces, 2 nephews, one great-niece and 2 great-nephews. She had a kind heart, loved cats, attending plays and listening to music. She was an avid quilter being a proud member of the Moose Jaw Prairie Hearts Quilt Guild, a member of the Canadian Quilter’s Association and an original member to her 9 Patcher’s Group. She was also an accomplished knitter making numerous gifts for her loved ones. She also created beautiful needlepoint art pieces. A day well spent for her was a day spent quilting or searching out a new quilt shop to add fabric to her ever growing stash. She always took pride in her garden and taking care of her home. Many family members and friends have been blessed to receive gifts of quilts, knitting or baked goods throughout the years. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, March 15th, 2014 at 1:30 p.m. in Moose Jaw Funeral Home. Reverend Doug Shepherd will officiate and interment will follow at Rosedale Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Roberta’s memory may be made to the Moose Jaw Health Foundation for the Women’s Health Department, 455 Fairford St. E., Moose Jaw, SK S6H 1H3 or to a charity of one’s choice. Arrangements are entrusted to Moose Jaw Funeral Home, 268 Mulberry Lane. Calvin Gammel, Funeral Director 306-693-4550 www.moosejawfuneralhome.com
