It is with deep sadness, that we, the family, announce the passing of our loving wife, mother and friend, Ethel Denny. Mom passed away on Friday, March 14, 2014, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital with her loving family by her side.
Born in Middleton, N.S., she was the daughter of the late George and Viola (Aulenback) Penny.
Ethel was a stay at home mom and this was a vocation she truly enjoyed. In her spare time she enjoyed reading, crocheting, doing word search puzzles, playing darts and bingo. She was an avid bowler and a member of many leagues over the past years. Ethel always put the needs of others before those of her own and she always tried to make everyone happy. She was a great wife, mother and her family was her #1 concern.
Ethel leaves behind her loving husband, Bill Denny; daughters, Julia Denny, Bedford, Joan Warren, Bridgewater, Mary Jane Denny, at home; she will also be sadly missed by sisters, Daisy Zinck, Thelma Whynot, Carolyn Zwicker; brothers, Gerald and David, all of mainland N.S., many nieces, nephews and friends.
Besides her parents, she was also predeceased by a sister, Josephine Jollymore.
In honouring Ethel’s wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral service.
Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 16 Reserve St., Glace Bay.
As an expression of sympathy for Ethel, memorial donations in her memory may be made to the N.S. Lung association or a charity of one’s choice.
At this time, we, Ethel’s family would like to express our sincere thank you to all the doctors and the nursing staff at the numerous departments and units of the Cape Breton Regional Hospital who treated her over the past several months.
