THE PONDS – Anna Isabel Mason, 99, The Ponds, passed away peacefully March 14, 2014 at home, surrounded by her family.
Born at The Ponds, she was a daughter of the late Cameron Samuel and Charlotte “Lottie” (Arbuckle) Murdock. She was a member of St. Paul’s Presbyterian Church, Merigomish, the Ladies Guild and a former Sunday school teacher. Prior to retirement, she was employed at the former Lismore Sea Foods. Anna was a very kind person, no one ever left her home without a cup of tea and something to eat. She always greeted people with a warm smile and kind word. Anna’s faithful canine companion, Bear, was a great comfort to her. She greatly enjoyed watching the sunsets at the cottage and being with her family.
Surviving are her daughter, Ora Jordan, The Ponds; sons, Calvin (Chris) Mason, The Ponds; Lewis (Helen) Mason, Merigomish; sister, Dorothy “Dot” Williams, Barney’s River; sisters-in-law, Mary Murdock and Myrtle Huggan, New Glasgow; eight grandchildren;10 great-grandchildren; three great, great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Orville Mason; son-in-law, Orman “Nonnie” Jordan; sisters, Ruth, Lorraine, Thelma and Esther; brothers, Russell, Grant, George “Dick”, Alfred and Calvin.
There will be no visitation at Anna’s request. Funeral service will be held 11 a.m. today in St. Paul’s Presbyterian Church with Rev. Bonnie Wynn officiating, assisted by Rev. Pat Rose. Interment will be in Murray’s Point Cemetery at a later date.
Donations may be made in Anna’s memory to Murray’s Point Cemetery Fund or St. Paul’s Presbyterian Church.
The Mason family wish to thank Dr. Gregor MacLean, Dr. Gerry Farrell and especially, the Pictou County Victorian Order of Nurses for their exceptional care.
