It is with sadness that we announce the passing of our mother, grandmother and sister, Gladys M. McDougall, 89, on Sunday, March 16, 2014, at the Northside Community Guest Home, North Sydney, after a long battle with Alzheimers disease.
Gladys was born in Belloram, Newfoundland, a daughter of the late Ralph and Cora (Bishop) Skinner.
She was a longtime resident of Brook Street, North Sydney, and was a member of St. Joseph Church.
Gladys is survived by her son, Bill (Louise) McDougall, Groves Point, N.S.; two daughters, Anne (Bernie) Bouchard, North Sydney, and Stella (Bruce) Canderlic, Lower Sackville N.S.; her eight grandchildren and a number of great-grandchildren; by her two brothers, Lance Skinner, Gander, N.L., Steve Skinner, B.C.
Gladys was predeceased by her husband, Angus Joseph MacDougall, her sisters, Sadie Roberts, Hilda Strobridge and brother, Bob Skinner.
No visitation will be held by request. A private family service and burial will take place at Holy Cross Cemetery, North Sydney at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of choice.
