Garrett: Richard (Dick) Gerald, 76, of Swift Current, passed away March 6, 2014 at Cypress Regional Hospital. The memorial service was held at 11:00 am, Thursday, March 13, 2014 from St. Steven's Anglican Church with Rev. Jonathan Hoskins officiating. Ushers were Warren's funeral home staff. The interment service will be held at Pennant Cemetery. The honorary pallbearers are all who knew and shared in Dick's life. Dick is survived by: Children: Rick (Michele), Perry (Myrna), Tim (Bonnie), Shannon (Tim). Grandchildren: Dustin (Erica), Mackenzie, Lindsay (Tyler), Sean (Jaime), Rylee, Cassidy, Kennedy, Brittany, Savannah, Ryker. Great Grandchildren: Ella, Grace, Abigael, Madden, Anthony, Matthew. Brothers: Jack (Joyce), Mac, Sisters-in-law: Fran, Betty. He was predeceased by: Father Howard, Mother Christina, wife Janice, brothers Bill, Bob, Harold, Don and sisters-in-law Shirley, and Mabel. Dick attended School at Grampian School then Pennant. He married Janice Woelke, August 23, 1958 in Swift Current. He was employed at Treens Packers Ltd. From 1957 to present. Dick also farmed for his entire life. Dick coached minor hockey and helped start the Tournament of Champions in Swift Current. He was also a member of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles. In his spare time, Dick enjoyed hunting, fishing, grandchildren, and especially great-grandchildren. Dick taught many people how to hunt, and took more pride in the trophies they took than they themselves. Many hours were spent shooting gophers with kids, adults, and anyone who wanted to come along. Dick was also donated blood regularly, totaling 69 donations, saving 207 lives. In his memory, memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Blood Service.
