It is with great sadness, we the family of William Paul MacNeil, loving son, husband and father, announce his passing on Tuesday, March 19, 2014, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital with his family by his side.
Born in North Sydney, Paul was the son of Josephine (Hood) MacNeil and the late Roderick MacNeil.
He was postal worker with Canada Post until his retirement in 2008. He was a 3rd degree member of the Fr. William Keily Council of the Knights of Columbus and an associate member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #19, North Sydney. Paul was a member of St. Joseph Church, North Sydney.
He is survived by his mother Josephine 'Josie' MacNeil, North Sydney, his wife Mabel (Jardine) MacNeil, and his two sons, Jeffrey and Roddie MacNeil.
Besides his father Roddie, he was predeceased his only brother John MacNeil in 2010.
Paul will be remembered and missed by his beach friends and Royal Canadian Legion buddies and also by his little canine friend Eddy.
Visitation for Paul will be held from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. on Thursday in the W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant St., North Sydney. A funeral mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday at St. Joseph Church with Rev. J.J. MacDonald officiating. Burial in Holy Cross Cemetery, North Sydney.
