Mary Honora (MacDonald) MacNeil, age 92, of Halifax, passed away Monday, March 17, 2014, in the Halifax Infirmary, QE II.
Born in New Waterford, she was a daughter of Angus A. and Honora MacDonald.
She attended school at Mount Carmel in New Waterford followed by Mount Saint Bernard in Antigonish and completed her education graduating from the College of Pharmacy, Halifax in 1942. She loved her chosen profession and was employed for 52 years with Lawton’s Drugs and its predecessors, McLeod Balcolm and Balcolm-Chittick Ltd.
Mary was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Chiefs and Petty Officers, Windsor Park.
She was an avid skating enthusiast all her life.
Mary is survived by her husband of 62 years, Jerome 'Jerry'; daughter, Joan (Rick); grandsons, Ryan and Lawren. She is also survived by her brother, Malcolm MacDonald (Mary), Ottawa and Helen Abbass (Ferris), Halifax, as well as sisters-in-law, Isabel Lewiskin, Halifax, Beatrice MacDonald, New Waterford; several nieces and nephews.
Mary was predeceased by her brother, John Hugh; sisters, Sr. Margaret A. MacDonald, CND, Isabel, and Alexandra.

Visitation will be Friday, March 21 in Cruikshank’s Halifax Funeral Home, 2666 Windsor St. from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, March 22 in Blessed Mother of Teresa of Calcutta parish at 10 a.m., with reception to follow. Burial will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
